Job Description
Production Assistant Berkshire Mountain Distillers 356 South Main Street, Sheffield, MA 01257 Berkshire Mountain Distillers, winner of the “Best Distillery” from the Best of the Berkshires and distillers of the New York Times #1 Craft Gin in the Country, Greylock Gin, is looking for a Production Assistant who will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties. Our_ Production Assistant _ is a vital role at BMD —spirit production is an important part of keeping the distillery operational. We have a small team of like-minded individuals, and we work extremely hard to continually produce our award winning spirits. The Production Assistant should be a self-starter, looking to become an integral member of the distillery production team. Tasks will include, but not limited to: grain mashing, fermentation oversight, bottling, labeling, packaging, blending, distilling and maintaining facilities machinery.
This position is available as part time and full time.
Requirements:
Grain Mashing and brewing production Keeping clear records of production usage and materials Clean distillery tanks and equipment on an as needed basis Machine upkeep (when applicable) Assist with bottling of distillery products, including Greylock Gin, Berkshire Bourbon Whiskey, Ice Glen Vodka, Ragged Mtn Rum, and specialty spirits. Assemble boxes, equipment, tables as needed; assemble and move pallets and tables when necessary Provide facilities support in a high-volume manufacturing environment Safely operate and service equipment, troubleshoot problems, changeover equipment, perform quality checks and maintenance tasks Understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and best practices to ensure quality standards for bottling lines Complete daily and routine maintenance on equipment as needed Assist with the clean-up of trash and debris from the distillery and warehouse space. Understand and comply with safety requirements of work area and keep safety top of mind at all times during general operation, maintenance, changing parts and setup of equipment Ensure adherence to all
Personal Safety, Food Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures Qualifications:
1-2 years of Distillery and/or Brewery Production or Maintenance (recommended) High school degree (College/Trade school experience a plus) Work well in a team-oriented environment Must have reliable transportation Great communication (email & phone) and interpersonal abilities for external providers as well as internal customers
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, reaching, climbing, stooping and kneeling required. Must be able to consistently lift and handle 50+ pounds worth of material.
