$28.50-$30 Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Shipfitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the assembly, fabrication, and installation of various metal structures and components in shipbuilding. This role requires precision and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work with a variety of tools and instruments. The Shipfitter will play a crucial role in ensuring that all fittings meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Duties Assemble and install metal structures according to blueprints and specifications. Fabricate components using sheet metal and other materials. Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters to ensure accurate dimensions. Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition. Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively. Weld components together as required, following industry standards. Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently and on time. Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure compliance with specifications. Qualifications Proven experience as a Shipfitter or in a similar role within the shipbuilding or manufacturing industry. Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, including calipers and ohmmeters. Strong skills in welding, assembly, and fabrication techniques. Familiarity with sheet metal work is highly desirable. Ability to operate various power tools and hand tools safely. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
