POSITION SUMMARY
Welds raw material to produce tube for processing through the mill as specified by layout, welding diagram, work order and work procedures by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates equipment to specifications and monitors production processes. Transfers and positions materials.
Loads coils, straps bundles, picks up bundles, dumps scrap.
Performs lift and push-pull actions.
Makes butt-welds and grinds welds.
Reads micrometers to verify accuracy of parts produced, checks OD and ID, processes paperwork according to established procedures.
Pulls materials as needed per FIFO and understands and works with inventory system.
Changes tooling and performs cut-by-weight calculations.
Shims cutoff, checks oiler and lube die set.
Troubleshoots Flupe problems.
Sets up tow bar and scarfing tool including impeder. Sets up weld box, OD and ID rolls and troubleshoots OD and ID roll marks.
Troubleshoots splatter, splits, scratches, bowed tubes, build-up, etc.
Rebuilds scarfing tool.
End welder assists with movement of material transported by hoist multiple times during shift.
Takes appropriate action to limit production excursions.
Identifies equipment malfunctions and need for maintenance/repair.
Cleans and maintains work area.
Trains and assists new personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS and
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
