Job Description

Paper Handler – Sofidel Tissue Sofidel Tissue Shelby, NC 28150 Paper Handler – Sofidel Tissue Sofidel Tissue, a leading manufacturer of tissue products committed to sustainability and operational excellence, is seeking a Paper Handler to join our Distribution team. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials in the Distribution Warehouse while maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Unload and distribute materials from incoming vehicles. Track and manage inventory accurately. Assist with unloading and handling broke rolls and cores. Inspect machinery, perform maintenance, and ensure safe operations. Reset Laser Guided Vehicles (LGVs) as needed. Manage Paper Machine production metrics and supply parent rolls to converting lines. Follow all workplace safety regulations (LOTO, confined spaces, PPE). Participate in safety investigations and ensure a clean work environment. Perform daily lift blowdowns and inspect storage bays.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required. 2+ years of experience in a high-speed distribution environment preferred. Experience in parent roll handling is a plus. Forklift/Clamp truck certification preferred. Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is an advantage. Internal candidates must have completed qualification levels 1-2 (Level 3 preferred). Strong understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (LOTO, confined spaces, PPE). Basic knowledge of Laser Guided Vehicles (LGVs) required. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment with exposure to temperature extremes, loud noise, and industrial hazards. Engage in manual labor (bending, walking, climbing) for an entire 12-hour shift. Lift 40 lbs. frequently, 40-50 lbs. occasionally, and over 50 lbs. minimally (team lifting required for heavier loads). Wear and comply with all required PPE (eye and ear protection, steel-toed shoes, face masks). Work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overtime may be required.
