Job Description

Production Support Operator Premix 5119 Apple Creek Parkway, Dallas, NC 28034 Premix is a Finnish family-owned company, and leading manufacturer of the most demanding functional plastic materials. We develop and manufacture electrically conductive and dissipative material solutions/plastic compounds for different industries like Healthcare, Diagnostics, Life Science, Cable, Packaging and Transport. We have a global presence and a manufacturing plant in Finland. With the new plant in Gastonia, NC, we bring our 40+ years of technology experience closer to US customers. Premix is opening a state of art, modern, greenfield factory in North-Carolina (Apple Creek, Gastonia) in 2025, and is looking for a Production Support Operator to join our US organization.

Main Responsibilities:

The Production Support Operator is responsible for managing the flow of material throughout our facility. They will be responsible for handling incoming and outgoing shipments, including the receipt, storage, and distribution of plastic pellets, ensuring they are handled properly and stored according to company standards. The role also involves supplying plastic pellets to production lines as needed for the manufacturing process, including the loading of bags onto hoists/cranes and distributing empty bags. Additionally, the Production Support Operator must maintain a safe and clean working environment. This position is critical to maintaining a continuous and efficient production workflow.

Key Responsibilities:
Material Handling:

Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, hoppers, hoists/cranes, conveyor systems, etc.) to transport plastic pellets to/from different machines/processes.

Incoming Material Handling:

Receive and inspect incoming material, ensuring it meets quality standards and specifications. Ensure the correctness, quantity and condition of the packaging of the material received and report any errors/discrepancies. Upon receipt, enter the relevant information of the received material (purchase order numbers, etc.) into the ERP system, tag the received material and put it away.

Outgoing Material Handling:

Prepare, package, label, and load outgoing shipments of plastic pellets, ensuring that the product to be sent is correct and that the condition of the packaging is acceptable.

Storage Management:

Ensure that plastic pellets are packaged and stored correctly, following proper labeling and inventory management procedures. Track stock levels and report low inventory or discrepancies. Pick up the necessary materials from the warehouse in accordance with FIFO (first in first out) when applicable, return unused materials to the warehouse and report warehouse location changes to the ERP system.

Material Distribution:

Supply production lines with the necessary raw material according to work orders, ensuring accurate quantities are delivered on time to avoid production delays. Load bags of raw material onto hoists/cranes and operate to move bags to appropriate floor level. Dispose of empty bags accordingly. Arrange filling /emptying of silos and trucks, and load tilt tables.

Equipment Operation:

Operate the additive mixing machine. Pull raw material and load/unload mixing machine.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance of dust collector system in carbon black area.

Inventory Control:

Maintain accurate records of all material movements, using inventory management software or manual logs. Participate in regular cycle counts or physical inventories. Inventory packaging materials regularly.

Quality Assurance:

Check the condition of plastic pellets, identifying and reporting any issues that could affect production quality.

Waste Management:

Properly handle and dispose of any material waste or excess plastic pellets in compliance with company policies and environmental regulations.

Safety and Compliance:

Adhere to all safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operating procedures when handling materials and operating equipment.

Collaboration:

Work closely with production, maintenance, warehouse, and quality control teams to ensure smooth material flow and efficient production operations.

Qualifications:
Experience:

Previous experience as a warehouse operator, material handler, or a similar role in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Experience with plastic materials is a plus.

Skills:

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer skills to enter and manage inventory transactions with a bar code scanner and through an ERP system.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move up to 55 lbs. Must be able to stand, bend, and work in a physically demanding environment for extended periods.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Certifications:

Forklift certification (preferred or willing to obtain).

Work Environment:

Warehouse and production environment with exposure to moderate noise, moving machinery, and bulk materials. Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and shift work, as needed.
