Clerical Office Job Summary:

The Building Element Assistant Designer is responsible for observing, training, and learning the processes of designing and manufacturing signs and other products. This position aims to gain the skills to become a full-time, productive designer who can produce site-specific permits and drawings.

Essential Functions:

Communicate and interact with other departments to ensure satisfactory design solutions Communicate with sales staff, project managers, customer service representatives, estimators, and production staff to produce drawings for client approval and permit acquisition Understand the project requirements, client needs, and all related information Assist design staff in completing various tasks to bring each project assigned to fruition Produce site-specific presentation and permit drawings, as required, using computer-aided design software to illustrate concepts involved, in a manner that represents the finished product, and allows staff or client representatives to understand the product fully Present designs to staff for approval, and discuss the need for modification Modify and refine designs to conform to changes requested during the review process Participate in continuous professional development to remain cutting edge Observe all techniques being shown to you and implement them appropriately to maintain the design process and develop skills that can be used in broader projects during tenure with the company Read industry-related publications, study competing products, review new industry-related product lines to obtain perspective and generate design concepts Follow the rules and regulations related to the safety of all employees working for the Company Adherence to all mandated safety procedures, including driving policy, production area safety requirements, and fire safety Safety requires all employees to review materials provided by the Company related to any updates on safety procedures Informs management of any safety-related issues Other duties as assigned

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Work Hours:

This is a full-time, 40-hour a week position with overtime as required.

Travel:

This position requires up to 10% travel.

Educational Requirements:

Highschool diploma or GED. Associate degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical engineering or other related fields.

Preferred Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical engineering or other related fields.

Knowledge Requirements:

Minimum one year of experience working with CAD software (CorelDRAW, AutoCAD, SketchUp) Hands-on mechanical/construction experience preferred Manufacturing experience preferred High-level spatial abilities Experience with Jobscope preferred Ability to read blueprints Experience with Crystal Reports or Microsoft SSRS preferred but not required. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications such as Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint is strongly preferred but not required Proficient with standard PC based software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) Understanding of business processes is essential. Aptitude in problem-solving.
