FUNCTION

The Graphic Design and Print Production Specialist is a dynamic teaching position dedicated to instructing high school students in the fundamentals and advanced techniques of graphic design, digital media, and print production. This role combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on experience in print media, digital design, and visual communication. The specialist will also oversee student internships, collaborate on school projects, and support various school departments in producing high-quality printed and digital materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Visual Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred, or 8, 000 documented hours in the career field. 2. Teaching certification or relevant teaching experience preferred. 3. Proven experience in graphic design, print production, and digital media. 4. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant software. 5. Basic understanding of print production processes and equipment. 6. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 7. Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and community partners. 8. Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro), camera operation, audio equipment, and live streaming platforms. 9. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 10. Ability to inspire and mentor students with diverse interests and backgrounds. 11. Willingness to adapt and learn new technologies and teaching methods. 12. A valid driver’s license as well as current insurance and vehicle with valid registration 13. PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES
Instructional Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans for high school students in graphic design, digital media, and print production courses. Teach foundational skills including design principles, typography, color theory, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and other relevant software. Incorporate project-based learning to enhance students’ practical skills and creativity. Assess student work, provide constructive feedback, and track progress to support individual learning goals. Facilitate classroom discussions, demonstrations, and critiques to foster a collaborative learning environment.

Internships and Practical Experience:

Coordinate and supervise student internships within the district, as well as with local businesses, community organizations, or school-based projects to provide real-world experience. Guide students in developing portfolios, resumes, and professional presentation skills. Organize field trips, guest speaker sessions, and industry visits to expose students to current trends and career opportunities in graphic design and print media.?

Print Production and Technical Responsibilities:

Oversee the design, layout, and production of printed materials such as flyers, posters, brochures, yearbooks, and other school publications. Manage the print production process, including pre-press preparation, color management, file setup, and quality control. Collaborate with vendors, print shops, and internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective printing services. Maintain and troubleshoot printing equipment, including digital printers, cutters, and binding machines. Oversee the design, layout, and production of printed materials for district use

Other Duties:

Collaborate with school staff, administration, and community partners on special projects, events, and promotional materials. Assist in the maintenance and organization of the graphic design and print production classrooms and equipment. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and curriculum development initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or administration.
