Senior Production Planning Specialist Job description
The Sr. Production Planning Specialist is responsible for timely work order creation to meet production demand in the ERP system. The Sr. Production Planning Specialist will analyze, prepare and issue work orders to work centers. This position will be responsible for coordinating material requirements to ensure controlled material flow of approved materials timed to meet top level production requirements.
You will provide status updates to internal customers of work in progress, material availability, and potential production barriers. This position will collaborate cross functionally and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review ERP demand, issue work orders, organize materials, monitor status, and control the timely flow of material through manufacturing to support productions schedules to meet on time customer delivery requirements.
- Transact and manage daily replenishment levels for work centers in accordance with ERP for assigned production areas, and master schedule.
- Collaborate and participate on the Value Stream teams, engineering, quality, and supervision to assess material needs and escalate potential barriers to timely work order creation.
- Provide status of assigned work centers from the time of initial job release through delivery of product to internal customers.
- Manage floor stock inventory control and mitigate material shortages as they relate to open production orders.
- Cross train with other Material Handling roles and Production Planning Specialist to serve as backup.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

What sets you apart
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Business, Technology or related field or 4 years of progressive experience in manufacturing planning/material handling.
- Experience working within an ERP and/or MRP system is required.
- Working knowledge and experience with Lean principles.
- Proven capabilities in the area of planning for discrete assembly manufacturing processes and machining manufacturing environments, including scheduling, shop floor planning, and Kanban.
- Must be able to read and interpret schematics, blueprint drawings and detailed work instructions.

Thinking Physical Requirements:
Hearing:
Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.
Speaking:
Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.
Vision:
Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of manufactured parts and reading information from printed sources and computer screens. Must be able to distinguish colors.
Other:
Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite manufacturing duties. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
