All ShiftsOperates the PTFE – coating ovens for the manufacture of PTFE coated fiberglass fabrics as specifically stated in the company process and procedure manuals.

Primary Duties

• Prepares ovens for operation by cleaning all parts as specified in procedure manual.
• Starts up and shuts down ovens to include shift changes, electrical power outages, maintenance repairs, emergencies and weekly plant close down.
• Obtains raw glass/partially produced product from old/new plant as specified on scheduling board.
• Checks cleanliness, specific gravity and pH of the dispersion and adjusts as necessary.
• Checks fabrics during coating process for any coating/manufacturing problems such as wrinkles, shutter rub, core seizures, coating defects, etc. Takes gamma gauge readings at regular intervals or as specified in instructions. With advice of shift leader, adjusts construction accordingly.
• Removes finished rolls from oven with fork lift or Big Joe based on manufacturing status of each roll.
• Records on construction sheet, lot number, yardages, problems, etc. for future reference. Input notes, pass information and gamma gauge readings into computer as required.
• At conclusion of pass, follow changeover procedures as prescribed in procedure manual.
• Scrubs/sweeps and mops floors in oven room to help prevent any contamination in coating solutions.
• Participates in the changeovers on all other towers to facilitate timely production.
• Set up new rolls for production and takes raw glass samples.
• Operate hand and forklift trucks.
