Handrail Fitter 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Gallaway, TN 38036 Personnel Placements, LLC is currently hiring for our client, a reputable steel manufacturing company in Gallaway, TN . We are looking for a skilled Handrail and Stair Fitter to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing steel handrails, staircases, and other custom metal structures. This position requires a blend of workshop fabrication and on-site installation, with an emphasis on quality, safety, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities:
Fabrication & Installation:
Install and fit steel handrails, staircases, and other associated metal components according to detailed project specifications and blueprints. Ensure proper alignment, secure fastening, and aesthetic consistency of all installations.
Blueprint Interpretation:
Review and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to determine the best installation approach. Ensure that all measurements, materials, and techniques align with project requirements.
Welding & Metalworking:
Perform MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on-site and in the fabrication shop as required for assembling and installing handrails and staircases.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to strict safety protocols on-site, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and follow all OSHA guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Quality Control:
Inspect all completed work to ensure that it meets both client specifications and industry standards. Ensure structural integrity, alignment, and proper finish on all installations.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other tradespeople, team members, and project supervisors to ensure smooth, efficient project completion. Maintain clear communication with all parties involved.
Tool & Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure that all tools and equipment are kept in good working condition, performing regular inspections and maintenance as needed.
Requirements:
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in steel fabrication and installation, particularly with handrails and staircases. Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding is essential.
Technical Skills:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files. Experience with metal cutting, grinding, and welding is a must.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy materials, work at heights, and perform tasks in confined spaces. Must have the physical stamina to stand, bend, kneel, and lift during installation.
Certifications:
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required. Welding certifications (e.g., AWS, ASME) are a plus but not required.
Work Environment:
Must be comfortable working in both a shop setting and at various job sites. Occasional travel to project locations may be required.
Desirable Skills:
Additional Welding Experience:
Experience with stainless steel or aluminum fabrication is beneficial.
Safety Training:
OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification and First Aid/CPR certifications are preferred.
Problem-Solving:
Strong ability to identify and address on-site challenges and find efficient solutions to keep the project on track.
