GENERAL SUMMARY

This is an entry level position into the forced progression of the Flexo Press Department. Associate will progress to higher skilled job as outlined in the labor agreement. Associate is responsible for the safe and efficient operations in the Flexo Press area. Primary responsibility is slitting, rewinding, plate mounting and the duties of label making.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 Obeys all plant/safety rules and comply with all OSHA regulations.
 Performs final make-ready at Flexo Press.
 Maintains the ink viscosity and pH levels using a pH meter.
 Maintains quality and quality control within the area.
 Maintains label audits.
 Maintains verification of the UPC with scanner.
 Performs all duties on press and helps with maintenance on press within skillset.
 Maintains good housekeeping, proper safety procedures, and maintenance of tools and equipment.
 Responsible for slitting/rewinding of labels.
 Assists in training of new employees and maintains continued on-the-job training when necessary for increased efficiency.
 Maintains the correctness of plates per job specification and the correct mounting of plates.
 Demount plates from print cylinders when job is completed.
 Performs press shutdown, including draining of inks stations and cleaning ink stations.
 Performs material handling duties as required.
 Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience Required:

Required Length & Type of Experience:

 Prior Flexo Press experience is helpful, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 Must pass Farnsworth Dichotomous Test for color blindness.
 Must process reasoning skills with a high degree of independence.
 Must have the ability to read, write, and calculate simple algebra.
 Must have good oral communication skills to work in a team-based environment.
 Knowledgeable in the operations of computers, scanners, and printing related to automated systems.
 Knowledgeable in the use of a pH meter

Education Required:

High School Diploma or GED
