Job Description
The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Controlled Materials Specialist I. This position will play an important role within MURR by supporting radioisotope production and application.
Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include
The core functions and responsibilities of the Controlled Materials Quality Control Technician for the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) Quality Control Group and radiopharmaceutical manufacturing operation is to perform quality control testing for pharmaceutical products and processing components, and raw materials. The Controlled Materials Quality Control Technician will perform receiving inspection, verification of purchased product, quarantine and release of cGMP controlled materials, and quality control testing activities in an FDA and NRC regulated environment. The position’s responsibilities include:
Verification inspection and quality control testing and confirmation of pharmaceutical product ingredients, components, and packaging systems in accordance with FDA and/or USP guidelines.
Coordination of analytical testing in association with routine production components and radiochemical release utilizing qualified equipment.
Communicate and coordinate with production groups to establish release timelines for raw materials and process components, adjusting for high priority items as needed.
Evaluate calibrations and control standards and their records for instrumentation used for Quality Control testing to determine qualification status. Perform or schedule instrument calibrations in accordance with standard operating procedures and requirements.
Assist with other Quality Unit activities, when assigned, related to MURR Quality Control department activities for products, processes, and customer support in compliance with FDA and GMP requirements. May include handling of radioactive material, for which radiation and laboratory safety training will be provided.
Maintain detailed quality system documents and records in compliance with FDA documentation guidelines.

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
