We are hiring a Director of Quality to lead our quality assurance and control operations across both internal manufacturing and external suppliers in an FAA-regulated aerospace environment . This leadership role is responsible for driving quality strategy, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and developing a culture of continuous improvement across the organization. This position will directly interface with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other regulatory bodies, manage supplier audits and certifications, and oversee a team of quality professionals. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep expertise in quality management systems (QMS) , regulated manufacturing , and supplier quality. This position will require about 15 – 20% travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as liaison with the FAA and other regulatory authorities Travel for supplier audits, internal auditing, development and certification of new suppliers, and resolution of issues Prioritize and assign work; provide instruction to personnel Take a hands-on approach to management, with the ability to “deep dive” into issues Provide interdepartmental assistance in areas such as new design, drawings, specifications, and ongoing technical issues Manage the maintenance of equipment and define specifications for new equipment Review engineering drawing changes and provide input Maintain and refine quality procedures; train personnel to follow those procedures Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures Due to the fluctuating demands of Superior’s operation, employees may be required to perform a variety of functions. As part of your role, you are expected to assist others when needed, just as others are expected to assist you. Accordingly, you may be assigned additional tasks as needed or directed
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years in quality control or 15+ years in lieu of a degree 5+ years of management experience in quality assurance or control Experience in a regulated industry (aerospace, automotive, medical, etc.) In-depth knowledge of GD&T , metrology, and technical documentation Strong working knowledge of quality systems , supplier development, and audits Legally authorized to work in the
United States Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of FAA regulations and compliance standards AS 9100 Lead Auditor Training Experience with piston engines or combustion engine components Ability to run and program CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines) Why Join Us?
