Job Description
Shipping & QC Team Manager Escapology 154 Knotter Dr, Cheshire, CT 06410 As the Shipping and QC Team Lead at Escapology, you will be the driving force behind ensuring every escape room prop leaving our facility meets our rigorous quality standards and reaches its global destination efficiently and intact. You will lead, mentor, and empower a dedicated team, overseeing all aspects of quality inspection, strategic packaging, and complex logistical coordination. Your expertise in quality control methodologies and supply chain management will be critical in optimizing our outbound processes and enhancing the player experience worldwide.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the Shipping & QC team: Provide direct supervision, training, and performance feedback, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Oversee and refine quality inspection processes: Directly manage the visual and functional inspection of all props, ensuring strict adherence to craftsmanship, aesthetic, and performance standards. Drive the enhancement and digitization of the QC system: Take ownership of digitizing the current QC tracking process, leveraging collected numerical and visual data to build a more robust, efficient, and data-driven quality management system.
Collaborate on defect resolution:
Partner closely with peer Team Leads from other production departments to ensure timely repair and resubmission of defective props to QC.
Optimize packaging and palletization:
Direct the proper wrapping and protective packaging of completed props, strategically filling pallets for maximum efficiency, freight optimization, and minimized damage during transit.
Ensure shipping accuracy and compliance:
Oversee accurate accounting of props to pallets, verify all packing slips, manifests, and required international shipping documentation and stickers are correct and securely attached to crates.
Manage logistics and carrier relationships:
Coordinate and communicate effectively with 3rd party haulers to ensure timely pickups and damage-free deliveries. Actively assist in securing new freight partners and nurturing existing relationships to optimize cost and service quality.
Provide real-time shipping visibility:
Track shipments rigorously using provided tracking IDs and GPS locators (when applicable), providing timely updates on shipping locations to relevant stakeholders.
Maintain departmental organization:
Ensure the Shipping & QC department, including all storage containers, supplies, tools, and workspaces, adheres to the highest standards of cleanliness and organization.
Contribute to production planning:
Ensure all relevant production schedule action items are accurately inputted and completed within the overall game completion tracking system.
Facilitate critical communication:
Maintain a consistent flow of departmental information to the team and escalate any concerns impacting production or shipping timelines through the appropriate chain of command.
Strategic Time Management:
Effectively balance hands-on duties with administrative responsibilities, proactively managing workload and priorities to meet critical deadlines.
Qualifications:
3+ years of progressive experience in Quality Control and/or Logistics management, preferably within a manufacturing, entertainment, or supply chain environment. Proven experience in leading and managing a team, including training, scheduling, and performance oversight. Direct experience with third-party haulers, freight logistics, and time-dependent international shipments is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to build, optimize, and digitize systems and processes for enhanced efficiency and accuracy. Strong proficiency in utilizing computer systems, including Windows OS, Google products (Sheets, Docs), and database/tracking software (e.g., Airtable); willingness to learn new platforms is essential. Exceptional attention to detail and a proven ability to establish, implement, and enforce rigorous quality control standards. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments and articulate complex information clearly. Superior time management and organizational skills to efficiently balance diverse operational and administrative responsibilities. Knowledge of Escape Room technology or themed entertainment production processes is a plus, but not required. Physical strength to lift objects weighing between 35-50 lbs on occasion, as needed. Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing job-related duties.
