Smyrna, GA The Opportunity:
The packaging, machinery and automation team at Smurfit WestRock is responsible for designing and building high-speed, automated packaging equipment used by the largest beverage bottlers in the world. As the QA/QC Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the machinery being built at Smurfit WestRock’s Atlanta location. This includes, but is not limited to, incoming inspections of shipments of parts and assemblies, assisting with the qualification of completed machinery and training team members on the methods necessary to improve production quality. Smurfit Westrock:
Comparing drawings and specifications to incoming parts and assemblies Recording inspection results, completing reports, summarizing reworks and waste and inputting data into our tracking systems. Working with vendors to resolve quality issues and improve performance. Working with engineering to establish acceptable variation ranges and tolerances on parts. Make recommendations on changes needed to prevent errors and defects. Training production on quality control measures and to improve production excellence. Establish quality standards for the finished goods being produced by each machine during testing and validation. Ensure organizational knowledge of quality standards and compliance with quality procedures. Keeping any and all measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements. Adherence to industry quality and safety standards. Maintaining plant wide

9001 certification.
What you need to succeed:
Ability to read and translate manufacturing drawings. PC Skills including MS Word, Power Point and Excel. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Understanding of the cost drivers in manufacturing. Leadership skills to ensure the proper implementation and acceptance of proposed quality management system. Technical Coach / Mentor to broaden the organization’s skills. Ability to travel up to 20%, may include domestic and international.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with

9001 Experience with lean manufacturing principles and practices. Continuous improvement background.
Educational Requirements Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
Preferred:
Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
