System Manager Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required. 15+ years of QA/QC experience in the heavy civil construction industry, with at least 5 years of leadership or managerial experience In-depth knowledge of construction standards, DOT specifications, and quality systems (e.g., ACI, ASTM, ISO, etc.). Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Promotes, executes and adheres to the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental program. Develops and implements project-specific QA/QC plans for heavy civil construction projects, including pump stations, bridges, utilities, and large-scale earthworks. Assists pre-construction and project construction management team in developing an initial project schedule, including all inspections. Oversees all quality control activities on-site and ensures strict adherence to project specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. Coordinates with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and subcontractors to proactively resolve quality-related issues. Conducts inspections, material testing, and quality audits throughout all phases of construction, including mandatory milestone inspections and tests, pre-final “punch lists” inspections, final close-out inspections, random site audits, as well as daily contract compliance checks on all aspects of construction. Leads and monitors the execution of testing programs throughout construction to verify that all materials and installations meet required specifications. Maintains detailed documentation and reporting, including testing logs and audit results, to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and industry standards. Reviews trade contractors’ means and methods for compliance with project contract documents in collaboration with the project superintendent Develops and analyzes data on the product specifications, scopes of work, plans and engineering reports to determine the finished product meets client and company expectations for quality and reliability.
