Position Description
The Quality Manager is a staff level position reporting to the General Manager and is responsible for the day to day oversight of the quality department and the facility quality program. This position will help develop long term plant strategy as well as develop the internal quality team to support world class product quality and customer satisfaction. The Quality Manager will be responsible for developing and tracking of appropriate KPIs and for periodic reporting of results and corrective actions to senior plant and corporate management.

Develop, implement and manage a plant quality system that meets or exceeds customer and certification agency requirements
Work closely with plant and group staff on the development and management of quality specifications, test requirements and process controls
Identify and analyze internal and external process quality issues and setting and achieving improvement targets via lean/continuous improvement activities
Interface with customers on technical and quality issues
Be proactive in attending cadenced meetings with top customers establishing partnership relationships
Be able to independently travel to customers or customer site installations to assess / correct product deficiencies
Deliver on internal (project) and external (customer) commitments
Participate in the business and strategic planning processes
Initiate and participate in the quality planning for the products and processes of the plant
Supervise and direct the activities of the quality department staff
Plan, develop and provide training to improve technical competency of personnel
Actively participate in and lead continuous improvement efforts utilizing lean, CI and quality tools
Establish, monitor, analyze and report on the major quality indicators of the facility. Develop improvement targets and plans to address / correct deficiencies.
Audit the plant quality systems, processes and products. Initiate corrective action when required
Facilitate facility-wide corrective and preventative action and problem resolution of customer complaints, field failures and product returns to insure prompt and effective responses
Exercise authority to prevent shipment of non-conforming product
Implement and oversee timely 8D reviews of product or process deficiencies including containment, short-term corrective actions, long-term corrective actions and sustainability
Continuously influence the organization to implement new quality tools and to establish new habits
Maintain the Facility Quality Management System, ISO 9001 and ASME Certifications including surveillance assessments and re-certifications
Plan, coordinate and manage
ISO 9001
internal audit activities
Analyze customer data to improve customer satisfaction
Interface with manufacturing, engineering, sales, customer service, customers and vendors to ensure quality expectations are met
Required Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing technology or related field preferred. Relevant experience in metal fabrication or coil manufacturing environments will be considered in lieu of degree.
CQE / CQA
Certification preferred or the ability to obtain
3-5 years relevant experience working in quality functions
Understanding of the engineering standards and the ability to detect visual discrepancies
Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, SAP) to support data and KPI reporting in a clear and concise manner
Critical thinking and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Must be able to read drawings, BOMs and other associated paperwork
Must be familiar with the 8D process and associated problem-solving tools
Must be able to do capability studies and data collection Working knowledge of PPAPs, Control Plans and PFMEAs preferred
