Key Responsibilities:
Organize, develop, and staff the Quality Control section to meet the immediate and long-term quality assurance need; appraise the performance of key subordinates and maximize their individual effectiveness, provide or recommend appropriate recognition, and if necessary, dispense discipline. Oversee the development, modification, application, and maintenance of standards for quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures. Oversee the development and analysis of statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and reliability expectancy of finished products. Work to address and remedy high priority customer quality issues. Improve product quality through the identification of trends and leading teams responsible for the reduction of warranty returns. Engage in or arrange for professional training of Quality Control personnel for N.D.E certification as required by applicable Codes and Standards. Supervise inspection, activities, and related paperwork to assure the effectiveness of the system and consequent quality of workmanship and acceptability of the product. Analyze, compile, and generate reports from DOA reject and warranty claims to aid in developing or improving systems and processes to improve product quality. Supervise a program of inspection and approval of purchased parts (including engines, transmissions, axles, a host of smaller parts, frames, and other weldments and products from subcontractors) ensuring that the components meet the applicable standards and that they conform to established standards set forth by Taylor engineering requirements and specifications. Supervise the continuous appraisal of the finished product, including any service problems that appear, in an effort to upgrade quality and eliminate causes of breakdown. Serve on the Warranty Committee, helping formulate decisions as to the liability of Taylor. Develop and maintain a Supplier Quality Manual to aid in determining compliance by outsourcing suppliers to Taylor Machine Works’ standards and specifications. Develop and maintain inspection process in parts fabrication and assembly including inspection checklists and maintenance of inspection records and tool calibrations. Develop and maintain an acceptable Quality Control Manual of standards and procedures usable by all other functions and departments of the company. Responsible for implementation and compliance to
ISO 9001.
Perform internal quality audits as required. Assures congruence between site quality manual and actual practices. Accountable for administering his/her area of authority with intensity, consistency, good judgment, and common sense. He/she is to delegate this authority to his/her subordinates by teaching them the rules of good management practices.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous experience in production or manufacturing. Strong attention to detail, observation, organizational, and leadership skills. Responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet set standards of quality, reliability, and performance. Setting and implementing internal/external quality requirements to ensure company products/services meet customer expectations.
