Hours for this position are open for discussion and may vary due to production schedule and department needs. Weekend work will be required. Job Summary Oversees and gives employees guidance in a fast-paced environment assuring conformance to Food Safety Regulations, Food Defense, Quality Processing and all QA Policies. In the absence of this individual, duties will be covered by the Manager of Quality Assurance. Daily duties will be covered by an adequately trained Senior QA Tech. Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, implementation and enforcement of product quality and food safety control points
- Communicate quickly and effectively with all levels of production management
- Know and understand all policies and standard operating procedures throughout the facility to audit, inspect and ensure compliance including Sanitation. (SSOP’S)
- Conduct and inspect or audit Mrs. Budd’s facilities to assure compliance with applicable procedures as directed by Quality Assurance management
- Administer and/or attend necessary meetings pertaining to food safety and product quality, including HACCP team meetings.
- Manage product hold program, including making decisions regarding questionable product.
- Help manage daily responsibilities of the QA staff on shift, assuring that there are no lapses in coverage and work with technicians on staffing needs.
- Help with Training all related QA employees in their essential duties, as well as keeping them informed of any changes to the system.
- Conduct investigation into root cause of customer complaints, and takes measures to prevent recurrence
- Other responsibilities w/ similar skill and work conditions as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise up to 5-10 employees in the QA and Sanitation Departments
- Plan, assign and direct work within the department with the guidance from the QA Manager
- Address complaints and resolve problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned. Responsibilities for Food Safety
- Responsible for completing required paperwork accurately and honestly as applicable.
- Must adhere to all corporate GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), established SSOPs (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures) and all Food and Employee Safety policies.
- Must adhere to all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable.
- Must be trained in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and adhere to approved HACCP plan(s). Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual
- Ability to recognize and define problems and opportunities; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a computer skillset. Including knowledge of database, spreadsheet, Word, and PowerPoint software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Education and/or Experience
- 2 Years or more conducting QA functions in a food manufacturing facility.
HACCP, GMP, and GFSI Audit experience. College degree – 2-4 years in Food Science or related field. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
H.A.C.C.P.
Certification, SQF Practitioner Certification. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job – ability to walk and stand on concrete floors for extended periods, ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Work Environment While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; toxic or caustic chemicals during sanitation activities and hot and cold environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
