PRIMARY FUNCTION

Plan, implement and supervise company quality control functions and activities as established by company policies, project quality program and executive management.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Assist project teams in preparation and implementation of company quality management program (QMP) in compliance with unique owner contracts and company requirements. As required by quality management plan, perform activities such as: a. Assist project teams in proactive identification of high-risk work scopes and upfront planning for quality risk management thereof. b. Provide guidance to project teams for the preparation and maintenance of quality documentation as required by the owner and/or the project management plan. c. Manage digitized QMP in company ERP software. Provide training as required to company personnel. d. Hold quality planning meetings, both internal to the project team and project-wide planning meetings. e. Conduct project walk-through and documentation inspections. f. Create project-specific checklists for requested scopes and assist the project team in management of the digitized checklist program. g. Provide quality technical guidance to project teams including identification and resolution of defective constructed work. h. Investigate root-cause of quality failures. i. Conduct in-house testing on select high-risk work scopes (e.g., building envelope testing) j. Notify supervisor of repeat or significant quality problems, k. At specific times as defined by supervisor, supplement a project team in the implementation of the quality management plan. Act as liaison with owner, regulatory agencies, subcontractors and/or internal departments on quality related matters as required. Ensure company standards as outlined in quality control manual are effectively implemented. Travel to jobsites as required. Most jobsites are regional to the Pittsburgh area, but there are jobsites in nearby states that could require daytrips or limited overnight travel. Assist supervisor in development and hosting of in-house and third-party training. Assist supervisor in advancement of department goals (Quality program refinement and expansion, quality culture goals, performance metrics tracking, etc.). Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Educational and experience requirements include: Four (4) year engineering degree plus minimum five (5) years commercial construction experience. Knowledgeable of common commercial construction building practices and adept at navigating and understanding construction drawings and specifications is required. Thorough working knowledge of or previous Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience, a strong technical background in concrete and/or building envelope construction, and a balanced field/office background is desirable. Must be able to communicate professionally (written and oral) with a wide range of personnel (both field and management/client oriented), be comfortable presenting. Strong negotiation/influence skills and an ability to sketch rudimentary construction details as a communication tool is desirable. A collaborative, diversity and inclusiveness mindset, is required. Must be a self-motivated and strong initiate with ability to work independently without close oversight. Must be intellectually curious with a positive, questioning mindset, and be customer and quality focused. Ability to recognize quality risks, drive continuous improvement, and take immediate corrective action is desired. Ability to analyze information accurately, make fact-based, unbiased decisions, and functions well under pressure. Must be organized, able to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously, and able to manage change adeptly.

COMMENTS

Willing and able to learn and conduct in-house testing on select high-risk work scopes. This can sometimes involve transporting and carrying testing equipment (~50lbs) across jobsites and often involves getting dirty. Exempt under FLSA. Individuals with
