The Quality Supervisor is responsible for managing and maintaining plant Quality systems to ensure quality of finished products. The Quality Supervisor implements continuous improvement activities and company systems, audits departments to ensure compliance with existing procedures and that proper quality safeguards are in place. Provides Customer support regarding quality issues and coordinates communication regarding Quality initiatives. Key competencies and qualifications Perform all work in accordance with the highest standards of Smurfit Westrock safety policies, ensure all safety policies and processes are enforced. Successfully complete all essential training. Supervise Quality Control team and compliance activities to achieve key site and corporate objectives. Manages quality daily, including managing and supporting the training and assignment of personnel on all aspects within the quality system, as applicable to individual job responsibilities. Implement to predict, prevent non-conformance, and manage Quality systems and performance. Provide techniques and equipment to achieve and measure the Quality of products and processes. Audit corrective actions have been implemented. Perform investigations and provide support to Customers regarding Quality issues, complaints, and internal failures. Ensure certificates of analysis’ are completed for Customers that require them. Ensure all non-conforming materials are isolated and determines proper disposition. Facilitate continuous improvement efforts, including root cause analyis, investigations and plans for corrective actions. Ability to successfully work on cross-functional basis with other site supervisors Ensures the compliance for ISO 9001 and other certifications while driving continuous improvement for Quality metrics/Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in their area of responsibility. Ensure compliance to the Food Safety Plans (HACCP) program for the facility. Train employees to CCPs, compliance of foods safety, and quality standards. Write and revise SOP’s/work instructions as required. Maintains safe, clean, and healthful working conditions; enforces safety rules and regulations.
Adhere to lock-out tag-out policy and performs all duties safely and efficiently. Follow established procedures in order to maintain a clean and organized environment. Schedules maintenance of quality equipment.
The ideal candidate will have:
Education/Qualification/Experience BSME or equivalent experience or bachelor’s degree in a related field with appropriate experience. Three years’ experience with
SQF/FSSC 22000, ISO
9001 and HACCP certifications/regulations preferred. Three years of quality experience with a demonstrated successful performance level. ASQC-certified preferred. Thorough understanding of QC tools such as SPC, DOE, sampling plans, audits, etc. Experience dealing with customers and suppliers. Knowledge Knowledge of safety practices and expectations. Knowledge of quality practices and expectations, and respect for product. In depth knowledge of manufacturing production processes and quality defects applicable to the plastics processing industry. Knowledge/respect of rules of good cleanliness practices and clothing (prohibitions and obligations). Ability to effectively communicate. Knowledge of OSHA requirements to include Machine Guarding and Lockout/Tag out Procedures. Knowledge of Safety, 5S, LEAN /TPS Toyota Production System a plus. Understanding standard work (SOP’s). Understands and follows Company’s quality and corporate/environmental policies. Skills Skilled in operating pallet jacks. Skilled in problem solving. Data analysis Good reading and math. Good computer skills (i.e., email, data entry). Good administrative skills (i.e., filing, organization).
