POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Quality Assurance Lab Technician I reports to the Quality Manager and will build on skills learned as a Quality Assurance Lab Tech and continue to strive for the highest of quality standards for all parts of the product cycle in a food grade manufacturing facility. The Quality Assurance Lab Technician I regularly works an 8 hour shift, with limited overtime as required by demand. The ideal candidate will be experienced in food manufacturing, have solid understanding of all Safety & Food Safety Requirements and be tenured in quality assurance controls/testing procedures. The candidate should be growth oriented and interested in assuming positions of greater responsibility as Quality Assurance Lab Technician II (QA2) as their skill proficiencies progress.
Equipment Operation / Testing /
Maintenance:
Exhibit safe, efficient and proper operation of the following technical lab testing tools: oxygen analyzer, agtron, refractometer, ro-tap, scales, and various brewing equipment.
Understand quality control and routine testing processes for lab testing tools.
Product Sampling:
Read and understand product specification sheets.
Assist with the periodic sampling process, according to the sample retention program, by pulling product samples in process from the production floor.
Evaluate coffee and tea samples according to desired specifications including sensory analysis. This will at times include sending samples to external third parties for evaluation.
Understand to identify non-conforming and out of spec issues. Understand the Product/Equipment Hold policy and the investigation methods available to research root causes.
Assist in preparing special samples for the sales, marketing, customers, and other departments as required.
Quality Assurance:
Understand how to document and file proper paperwork.
Properly follow the hold and release program and enter holds into designated spreadsheet.
Assist to monitor policy and procedure adherence of various plant departments. Understand and assist in the Co-manufacturer sampling process, Certificate of Analysis documentation, magnet inspection, and SQF related activities.
Gain understanding and assist in green coffee and tea sampling activities as needed.
Management & Communication:
Exhibit adherence to all Safety & Food Safety Requirements as well as all Royal Cup rules and policies.
Strive for work to be completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Always be mindful of and adhere to GMP’s, Quality and Food Safety requirements.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures and guidelines.
All other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required Minimum:
High School Diploma and/or equivalent (ie. GED). Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment is highly preferable.
Basic Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Skills:
Ability to read, write and interpret specification sheets and other correspondence. Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to operate basic office equipment: telephone system, desktop computers, fax and copy machines.
Beyond basic abilities with Microsoft Office Software, specifically with Word and Excel.
Capabilities required to UPS or FedEx packages.

Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, climbing, grasping, typing, reading, talking and hearing.
