Job Title:
Aerospace Mechanical Estimator Job Description Responsible for creating detailed quotations for new jobs based on mechanical blueprints received from customers. Qualified candidates for this position will have vast machining/toolmaking experience. Candidates must also have in-depth knowledge of overall manufacturing workflow processes, including quality, processing/routing of jobs, coatings, heat treatments, purchasing and extensive knowledge of metals. This is a position within an extremely busy “job shop” setting meaning a variety of complex work being machined for many customers simultaneously. Responsibilities Generation of customer quotes using Shoptech E2. This includes reading and interpretation of customer supplied 2-D drawings, sketches, CAD models and specifications. Generation of bill of materials from customer supplied engineering. Interface with material suppliers, special processors, and applicable internal subject matter experts to obtain labor estimates, pricing and lead times. Prepare final price quote and submit to management for approval and delivery to customer. Essential Skills Knowledge of manufacturing processes, specifically machining practices required in the production of aerospace hardware. This includes understanding and working with CAD models, applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. Experience with MBD files a plus. Knowledge of machining systems and practices, raw materials, quality control (ISO9001 & AS9100), costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods. Experience with hi-temp alloys like 718 Inconel, Monel, titanium, etc. a plus. Ability to adequately consult with management, engineers, clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to support production. Math skills, knowledge of machine tool industry materials and component costs, reading part drawings (including GD&T), interpersonal relations, phone skills, knowledge of the ERP system, and experience in Microsoft Office. Five (5) years minimum in a related position in the machining industry. Additional Skills & Qualifications Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Communication with customers, vendors, engineers, sales, management, etc Ability to operate various measuring devices and tools. Adhere to safety and quality standards in a professional setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, Alabama.
