Construction Materials Technician Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Construction Materials Technician to join our team in Springdale, Arkansas. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. Responsibilities Conduct field and laboratory tests, observations, and inspections of construction materials. Communicate effectively with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractor representatives, and other relevant parties regarding construction site activities, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection results. Transport material samples, along with associated documentation, to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Compile, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment. Assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites as needed. Adhere to strict safety standards at all times. Essential Skills Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. Attention to detail and the ability to accurately document and report findings. Ability to maintain and operate testing equipment and vehicles. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols. 2-3 years of Materials Testing Experience Experience with ACI, Concrete, Asphalt, Concrete testing, Materials testing, Concrete inspection, Nuclear gauge, Construction materials testing, the person testing Proctor, Compaction testing, Quality assurance, Soil testing, Troxler Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire. Successful completion of related internal safety certifications. Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history. Troxler, ACI, Cylinders Work Environment Expect to work 60+ hour work weeks, especially during peak construction seasons. Shifts often include early morning concrete pours and late-night testing, depending on project timelines and weather conditions. The job is primarily outdoors, requiring technicians to work in all weather conditions—heat, cold, rain, and snow. This includes standing for long periods, lifting equipment, and navigating active construction sites.
