Quality Assurance Lab Technician Job Description Join a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in food quality and safety. As a Quality Assurance Lab Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring all products meet specifications through thorough analysis and evaluation processes. Responsibilities Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in warehouse or production areas. Ensure compliance with food quality and safety standards, including Safe Quality Food requirements. Conduct analysis on raw deliveries, syrup batches, and treated water, ensuring conformity to product specifications as outlined in the SAP system. Maintain accurate and legible records of all tests and retests performed, completing required reports such as work orders and action reports in a timely manner. Collaborate with all departments to improve quality, increase efficiencies, and eliminate out-of-specification or damaged products. Startup lines accurately and timely by pre-confirming flavor to be run, carbo-trol/flow mix settings, and product parameters. Perform chemical and physical analysis on raw and intermediate processing materials, including packaging materials, to determine their status as acceptable or unacceptable. Execute flavor changes accurately and timely by pre-confirming flavor to be run, carbo-trol/flow mix settings, and product parameters. Evaluate finished products against current standards by performing audits to monitor all aspects of finished product and packaging integrity. Check process control parameters to ensure proper equipment application and operation through secure seal, closure torque, and seaming checks. Ensure accurate test results by maintaining proper operation, cleanliness, and calibration of laboratory equipment. Maintain laboratory cleanliness at all times. Utilize free time to assist other technicians or production personnel, file, prepare reagents, photocopy audit sheets, check held products, empty reference samples, read micro plates, check inventory supplies, and oversee repacks. Complete special projects and other reasonable duties as assigned by Lead Hand or Management. Communicate with the technician coming on shift about any issues that may affect product or scheduling, clean all equipment and benches used for your line, and mop the floor if not already completed. Wait for your replacement before leaving the laboratory and inform Lead Hand or QA Manager if your replacement is late. Essential Skills Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field. Attention to detail. Proficiency in laboratory techniques. Experience in quality assurance, microbiology, and quality control. Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and SQF quality systems. Ability to troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP, and PowerPoint. Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Food Science, Quality, or related discipline. Certification in quality systems is ideal. Organized and detail-oriented. Adaptable to change. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
