Job Overview:

ScrapCo Metal Recycling is seeking a detail-oriented Non-Ferrous Scale Operator to manage and operate our scale for non-ferrous metals. The Non-Ferrous Scale Operator will weigh, inspect, and document incoming and outgoing non-ferrous materials, ensuring accuracy and quality in all transactions. This role involves working closely with customers, maintaining organized records, and ensuring compliance with company standards and safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

Operate Scale System:

Accurately weigh and record non-ferrous metals, including copper, aluminum, brass, and stainless steel, using computerized scale systems.

Inspect Materials:

Verify the quality and type of non-ferrous materials being weighed and ensure they meet ScrapCo’s standards.

Customer Interaction:

Greet and assist customers, answering questions regarding material classification, pricing, and process.

Document Transactions:

Record weights, materials, and transaction details in the system, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and up to date.

Ensure Compliance:

Follow company and industry regulations for handling non-ferrous metals, including environmental and safety standards.

Maintain Work Area:

Keep the scale area organized, clean, and free of hazards to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Collaborate with

Coordinate with yard staff and equipment operators to facilitate efficient material flow and processing.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience working with non-ferrous metals and scale operation is preferred Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording weights and transaction details Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with customers Familiarity with computer systems and ability to use scale software Physical ability to work in outdoor conditions and lift up to 50 lbs if needed Knowledge of safety protocols and commitment to following them
