Quality Technician JC Machine, Inc. 3620 Airport Road, Lakeland, FL 33811 Overview The Quality Technician has the responsibility and authority to carry out the assigned tasks described in the responsibility section of the job description. The Quality Technician will be expected to perform manufacturing inspections and audits. The Technician will also have an understanding and ability to interpret CAD drawings and perform inspection with the knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerances and the equipment to perform these inspections. Responsibilities
- Promote quality achievement and performance throughout the organization. Promotes an environment for continual improvement and preventive action among all departments.
- Organize and maintain a neat and orderly department in which work is to be performed.
- Communicate and adhere to the Quality Management System and its compliance with the standard(s).
- Maintain up to date knowledge of the specific specifications required to achieve customer satisfaction and product conformance.
- Assist the Quality Manager with Vendor performance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory and both national and international standards and regulations.
- Perform routine floor inspections to ensure a safe, productive and clean environment.
- Perform routine in-process inspections of product as it is manufactured to catch non-conforming products and practices before they become a major non-conformance.
- Assist in writing new and improving old work instructions and SOP’s to keep them current and effective.
- Persuading reluctant staff to improve their methods to promote “through” quality.
- Maintain a positive argument or debate when required to keep quality methods at the fore front of production even when other departments may disagree.
- Assist in the completion of supplier surveys for current and potential customers.
- Facilitate the audit process, including assisting external auditors for ISO surveillance and re-certification audits, as well as any customer, regulatory or special process audits, as required.
- Maintain and communicate a safety program in compliance with county, state and federal guidelines, including on-site audits.
- Demonstrate proficiency in manufacturing inspection and audit. Overseeing and developing any First Piece requirements for inspection. Creation of F.A.I.R. for any designated customer for inspection compliance.
- The authority to complete/initiate reject identification in the event of a nonconforming product.
- The ability to understand/interpret CAD drawings / Solid Models – detailed understanding of blue prints.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
- Experience with inspection equipment including traditional metrology tools, CMM, Romer Arm, Optical Comparator and other required inspection instruments.
- The implementation, tracking and communication of departmental effectiveness to all associates to ensure compliance with company’s policies and procedures.
- Participate in the
CAR/NCR/PAR
program for audit compliance and continual improvement.
- Inspects, troubleshoots and implements processes to mitigate non-conformance or corrective actions.
- Verifies effectiveness of programs against designed/planned results.
- Assist in maintaining inspection/calibration records as directed by the Quality Management System.
- Maintains proper document identification and revisions in the E2 document control module.
- Performs any necessary task as requested/directed by the President or management team.
- Maintains compliance with the Quality Management System and ISO standards.
Experience/Education/Skills 1 year experience in a manufacturing setting required. Familiarity of basic metrology tools (Calipers, Height Gage, Etc.) High School Diploma or equivalent required.
ISO 9001
2015 training and internal audit training preferred. AS9100 training and internal audit training preferred. On the job training or vocational sufficient.
