Data Quality Assurance Specialist II Bureau of Water Resource Information Job Summary:
This is moderately complex, technical work reviewing and correcting raw hydro-meteorological data to ensure reliability and validity of the data; developing and instructing hydrologic staff in sample collection techniques to ensure the reliability of the data collected, as well as testing and calibrating radio/cellular telemetry hydrologic data collection instrumentation.
Job duties include:
Analyzes, validates, and corrects hydro-meteorological data collected by the Water Resource Information (WRI). Implements methods for performing quality checks on all data collected by WRI; protects data from revision after quality checking; provide quality codes with all disseminated data. Implements improved quality assurance methods and procedures for hydro-meteorological data collection, validation, processing, reporting, and dissemination; develops and implements standard operating procedures for field data collection; publishes, updates, and ensures compliance with relevant quality assurance standards; and evaluates data collection sensors and processes to ensure quality performance. Reviews data validated and processed by WRI staff prior to archiving and distribution. Develops and presents quality assurance training. Reviews and validates reports before they are released to the Web and presented to the Governing Board.
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology, a natural science, or engineering and two years professional experience in hydrologic-meteorologic data quality assurance or water quality assurance. Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.
Periodic field visits:
Applicant must have the ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.
Licenses:
Requires a valid Florida driver license.
Travel:
Requires travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight. Ability to drive oneself to and from meetings.

Starting Salary Range:
$45,864.00 – $57,324.80 Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
