Job Description

Data Quality Assurance Specialist IIIBureau of Water Resource InformationJob Summary:

This is complex, technical work analyzing, validating and correcting hydrologic data collected by District staff and analyzed in the District, DEP and other laboratories. Develop and implement quality control/assurance protocols and report quality control/assurance findings. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for data collection and data quality control/assurance review.

Job duties include:

Coordinate water quality data collection data needs with project managers, Field Program Supervisors (FPS), and field staff; review requests, proposed collection and lab methods, and processing needs to ensure that requirements are met; set up pre-logins in LIMS.Work with Districts field staff and FPS on QA/QC of collected field data and uploads to the Districts LIMS and Environmental Database.

Analyze, validate, and correct water quality data collected by Water Resource Information (WRI) staff and analyzed by the District, FDEP, and other laboratories; ensure proper quality codes are attached to all disseminated data; update databases and metadata to reflect project and sampling changes.

Develop and implement methods for performing analyses and generating regular reports for assessments of water quality data, QA procedures, and field sampling metrics.

Develop and update the Districts Field Standard Operating Procedures (FSOP) for surface and groundwater sampling protocols that includes methods for sample collection, equipment calibration and maintenance, conducting field measurements, establishing chain of custody, and procedures for auditing, reporting, and taking corrective action.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in hydrology, a natural science, or engineering and two years professional experience in hydrologic-meteorologic data quality assurance or water quality assurance.

Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.

Periodic field visits:

Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.

Licenses:

Requires a valid Florida driver license.

Travel:

Requires travel to attend off-site meetings, sometimes outside of normal business hours including overnight. Ability to drive oneself to and from meetings.

Starting Salary Range:

$56,180.80 – $70,220.80Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.
