Overview The Quality Improvement Coordinator coordinates the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of performance data relative to specified quality improvement programs within the hospital. Maintains documents and records according to state and federal health care standards. Support multidisciplinary quality improvement functions organizationally to achieve the highest quality and best possible outcomes for the patient and to support the various hospital functions related to development, implementation and evaluation of performance improvement initiatives. Reports to the Director of Quality. Responsibilities Reviews and extracts patient information from the medical records. Demonstrates innovation and leads change through process flow/analysis. Demonstrates expertise in performance improvement. Interprets and analyzes data and identifies areas for improvement. Leads core measure and other processes teams. Uses measurement and analytics skills to identify areas for improvement. Exhibits knowledge of the fiscal implications of quality outcomes Improves processes. Ability to read, interpret and implement guidelines from oversight agencies and the Joint Commission. Utilizes appropriate computer systems to obtain data, enter and develop reporting tools. Demonstrates interest in the development of others and positively impacts the lives of patients/families, peers, and members of the healthcare team through mentoring, education, and knowledge sharing. Mentors and role models quest for continuous learning through formal education and the development of others. Seeks opportunities to share expertise with other members of the healthcare team. Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to identify opportunities for success with regulatory requirements. Partners with hospital leaders to implement change. Demonstrates project management skills. Serves as a leader in clinical nursing practice, identifying patient and staff focused opportunities for improvement and leading the change process. Identifies, educates and supports the psychological and learning needs of staff during change and transition. Practices participatory leadership and is an active member of shared leadership at the unit, facility or system level. Interacts with variety of staff. Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by building teams and relationships through mentoring and modeling uplifting and positive communication. Applies best practice knowledge to improvement efforts. Practices solid verbal and written communication skills. Incorporates national professional organization as well as business unit and health system’s goals to improve patient safety, quality and satisfaction of the patient experience in work. Qualifications Required education: Associates in Nursing Required experience: 3 years of nursing experience Preferred experience: Knowledge of ICU, ER, Cardiovascular, and Obstetrics. Two years of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) experience or Quality Assurance (QA) experience applying CQI methods, tools, techniques, working with P.I. teams. Help for Employer Information.
