DESCRIPTION

The Quality Technician assists the Quality Department in day-to-day tasks, as well as specialized projects such as research & development. Daily responsibilities include monitoring in-process controls on the shop floor to ensure adequacy and accuracy, training production personnel in the use of process controls, and assisting within the Quality Department, as required. The Quality Department aims to stop wasteful production of poor-quality parts and help ensure that customers do not receive nonconforming products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in continuous improvement projects. Inspect and test the final product made with those materials. Support Quality with transactions within our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System. Support Quality and where applicable, Engineering, as it relates to product improvement initiatives, as well as Research and Development projects. Assist with in-process testing as well as inspecting our process controls for conformity. Report occurrences of out-of-spec results to Quality management in a timely manner Perform analytical tests and measure other performance criteria as needed. Demonstrate safe work practices through compliance with all company Environmental Health and Safety Policies Perform other job assignments as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and kneel as needed to use general office equipment with or without reasonable accommodation. The employee is regularly required to talk or hear Ability to stand or walk on production floor up to 8 hours a day Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and kneel as needed to use general office equipment with or without reasonable accommodation. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and kneel. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation. Ability to pass a spirometry/respiratory test. (For Mask Certification) Ability to wear a full Tyvek suit with full face respirator. Must be comfortable working in a facility where explosives and ammunition are manufactured, handled, and frequently expended for testing and demonstration purposes.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

At least 1 year of experience working in related field is required.

EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED

Knowledge of quality systems Strong analytical skills with calibrated measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, gages/blocks, data loggers, etc.) Ability to interpret SPC charts. Familiar with concepts of Quality Control and Quality Assurance Knowledge of work instructions and product requirements Problem solving and training skills. Must be hardworking, trustworthy, and reliable. Able to work under minimal supervision. High school diploma or its equivalent

Valid Driver’s License Computing Skills:

Windows Operating System; general use of Internet web sites and search tools, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Strong basic arithmetic skills Language Skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, financial reports, legal documents, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Reasoning Ability. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
