POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the planning, set-up, execution and analysis of complex part measurements using state-of-the-art technologies, including. The open position interfaces directly with Product Development, Manufacturing and Quality Engineering. Projects may include, but are not limited to laboratory testing, routine measurements, design reviews and complicated dimensional inspections. Critical to the position is the ability to program, set-up and use vision and laser-based measurement systems in a proficient and accurate manner. Duties require independent problem solving, self-led experimentation with new methods, developing and executing repeatable and reliable measurements, writing concise test reports that provide conclusions and recommendations to the engineering teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knowledge of
CFR 210/211
Develops setups, fixtures, and programs as needed for measuring complex plastic and metal components
Review notebooks, forms, and raw data
Executes measurements using a variety of equipment, both manual and automatic
Requires ability to operate and develop simple to complex programs for state-of-the-art equipment
Requires ability to define or design and develop optimum fixturing and test methods
Creates special setups for development tests on new products
Knowledge of problem-solving technical problems in a structured method
Provides work instructions detailing the use of gauges and equipment within the Analytical Lab Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office
Conducts quality audits on appropriate regulatory and procedural requirements
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Able to manage a diverse set of measurement and/or testing assignments in any given day
Able to manage simultaneous projects with accuracy and urgency
Able to accurately forecast the time and materials needed to complete a project
Required to work collaboratively with engineering to determine the best measurement or test method
Required to stay abreast of new methods through class or self-study and able to readily apply these methods
May at times be asked to function as the Lab Supervisor
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BA or BS preferable in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Microbiology or related field Requires some statistical analysis of test data for reports written
Requires the ability to set up and analyze Gage R&R (MSA) and perform bias testing to existing standards
Strong knowledge and application of programming languages such as Empower 2 or 3, Mass Hunter (GC-MS) DataPro (Sievers TOC) and SOLAAR software (AA)
Leadership or supervisory experience and demonstrated capabilities are preferred
