Lab Assoc Position Overview:
Under direct to minimal supervision, performs analyses of raw materials, packaging materials, and bulk, intermediate, and finished products from other sections of quality control.
Duties:
Understand the quality requirements in engineering drawings and specifications. Performs inspections and tests in accordance with documented requirements. Accepts or rejects parts or material they have inspected or tested, writes rejection reports when necessary, and ensures related records are completely and accurately documented. Maintains adequate quantities of consumables used for inspections and tests are available for use. Dimensional inspection of tools, materials, components and assemblies. Keep work areas clean and orderly. Communicate with members of the team as well as other areas of the facility. Monitor and implement adherence to all safety and department procedures, practices, and directives. Requires initiative in solving problems associated with the set-up and testing of laboratory equipment and some ingenuity in adapting equipment, instruments, etc. to complete tests. Preform chemical, physical and mechanical testing according to established procedures, to determine conformance to accepted specifications for a particular property. Cut, prepare and test samples. Proficiency with precision measurement equipment ( e.g. , calipers, scales, micrometers testing machines) Maintain necessary paperwork / records. Notify supervision of all malfunctions, defects, or damages of equipment, material, and product. Assist higher classified Tech-Lab employees with other related duties as assigned. Troubleshoot and solve unique problems through collaboration with engineers and other technicians. Other job duties as assigned.
Job Knowledge & Educational Requirements:
Job knowledge requires vocational or similar training, including basic shop math to aid in the interpretation and the utilization of data from engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications and procedures. Knowledge of shop routines and practices is preferred. Basic knowledge of personal computers, including operating systems and file management is required. Strong attention to detail Excellent organizational skills High school diploma preferred; candidates with the ability to obtain an accredited GED are encouraged to apply Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
