CMM Programmer Job Description To excel in this role, you must be able to perform each essential function to a satisfactory level. Programs and operates a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM); revises programs to enhance effectiveness and efficiency. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing-related non-conformances. Initiates records for nonconformance and manages parts that do not meet requirements. Strives for continuous improvement in inspection processes and supports the implementation of process improvements. Communicates effectively with internal and external personnel to troubleshoot and address errors, trends, and resolutions for non-conforming parts. Responsibilities Program and operate CMM to perform inspections on machined parts. Revise CMM programs to maximize effectiveness and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to resolve manufacturing-related non-conformances. Initiate nonconformance records and manage disposition of non-conforming parts. Recommend and support implementation of process improvements for inspection effectiveness. Communicate with internal and external personnel to identify root causes and address errors. Complete other duties as required. Essential Skills Experience in programming and operating CMMs. Knowledge of quality system requirements and industry standards. Problem-solving skills including Statistical Quality Control and Statistical Process Control. Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and technical documents. Advanced mathematical skills including fractions and decimal calculations. Proficiency in reading precision measuring instruments like mics and calipers. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Lean Manufacturing exercises and Six Sigma projects. Work Environment Employees must regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including manufacturing areas. Periodically lift, carry, and push/pull up to 100 pounds with assistance. Regularly climb steps, stairs, or ladders and occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel. Communication is constant via phone and messaging in English. Visual acuity is required for reading precision measuring instruments and distinguishing colors. The environment includes excessive noise (hearing protection required), occasional dust, smoke, fumes/vapors, extreme temperatures, and hazardous equipment such as forklifts and cranes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, Georgia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 – $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
