Grady Health Senior Vice President, Chief Quality Officer Grady Health seeks an innovative, enterprising, and distinguishedphysician executive to serve as its next Senior Vice President,Chief Quality Officer (CQO). This position offers a collaborativeand dynamic physician leader the opportunity to join one of thelargest safety net academic health systems in the United Statesdeveloping and leading strategic programs and initiatives focusedon quality, safety, and performance improvement. Grady is driven bya keen focus on the delivery of high quality, safe andcost-effective care for the betterment of the Atlanta community inconjunction with an outstanding academic environment. The CQO willstrive to advance a culture of clinical excellence and highreliability across the care continuum, guiding Grady to consistentstandards of care delivery. Grady is a $2.4 billion health system that includes the 953-bedGrady Memorial Hospital and eight neighborhood health centers. Withits nationally acclaimed Emergency Care Center, Marcus Stroke andNeuroscience Center and Burn Unit, Grady Health System has the onlyLevel I Trauma Center in Metro Atlanta and serves as the ambulanceprovider for the city of Atlanta. The state’s only Poison Center ishoused at Grady as well. The Diabetes Detection & Control Center,Georgia Cancer Center for Excellence, Comprehensive Sickle CellCenter, and Avon Foundation Comprehensive Breast Center are alsonotable components of the health system. Moreover, Grady’sInfectious Disease Program was named one of the top three HIV/AIDSoutpatient clinics in the country. Grady is also a major teachinginstitution (the largest in the State of Georgia) and is staffed byphysicians from both Emory University School of Medicine (Emory)and the Morehouse School of Medicine (Morehouse). Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, the CQO will beresponsible for setting a vision, strategy, and organizationalstructure for quality and safety across the enterprise. This leaderwill drive performance improvement informed by evidence-based careto fulfill Grady’s mission and obligation to its patients and thecommunity. The CQO will work across Grady’s clinical departmentsand service lines to enhance integration and ensure alignment withGrady’s quality and safety priorities. The CQO will also beresponsible for fostering collaborative relationships with Emoryand Morehouse to strengthen communication, identify opportunitiesfor greater alignment, and improve patient outcomes. The CQO willpartner with Emory and Morehouse department chairs, along withclinical and administrative leaders across Grady to spearheadinnovative, strategic, and effective safety programs across allmodalities of care. They will be a champion for a data-drivenapproach to advance Grady to be a national leader in quality andsafety. The successful candidate will be a physician leader with a provenrecord of accomplishment in driving quality, safety, andperformance improvement within a high-performing teaching hospital.
The CQO will be a visible, transparent, clinically credible, anddecisive leader who is able to foster relationships, inspireothers, and collaborate across the organization. The candidate musthave thorough knowledge of process improvement, publicly reporteddata, lean methodologies, high reliability methods, changemanagement, and dedication to utilize data to drive systemimprovements through process and technology. degree isrequired and completion of a postgraduate medical education in anACGME-accredited residency program with current Board Certificationin their specialty.
