This position is designed for an experienced individual who is proficient in quality assurance processes and food safety protocols. The Senior Technician will oversee and guide Quality Assurance Technicians, including Level I Techs, and lead training efforts for new hires. This role requires advanced knowledge in chemical management, quality check management, and the ability to make informed decisions in maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP, SQF, and GMP standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide guidance and mentorship to Level I Quality Assurance Technicians, offering on-the-job coaching, training, and support. Lead training initiatives for new hires to ensure they are up to speed with quality standards and protocols. Accurately document and report data related to HACCP, quality checks, and customer-facing documents. Ensure all records are maintained and compliant with company and regulatory standards. Lead the verification of Critical Control Points (CCP) and Quality Control Points (QCP) using microbiological analysis, titration, and other testing methods. Provide expert recommendations for corrective actions and improvements. Master chemical management processes, ensuring the correct usage, storage, and handling of chemicals and reagents. Oversee quality check management, ensuring all checks are conducted at required frequencies and in compliance with standards. Conduct and supervise sample collection, analytical testing, and results interpretation. Report findings and take appropriate actions based on results. Perform and supervise calibration of equipment such as thermometers, scales, and headspace analyzers. Troubleshoot equipment issues as needed and ensure proper functioning. Oversee the inventory of chemicals, personal protective equipment, and quality utensils/tools. Ensure inventory is properly maintained and adequately stocked. Actively solve complex quality issues and provide guidance to Level I Techs. Make timely, informed decisions regarding product quality, including placing product on hold when necessary. Ensure compliance with HACCP, SQF, GMP, and other regulatory requirements. Actively assist with audits and inspections as required. Collaborate with other departments and management to ensure food safety and quality processes are followed. Provide feedback and report on team performance and product quality concerns. Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a food processing facility as a Quality Assurance Technician, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Proficient in chemical management, including proper storage, handling, and usage of chemicals and reagents. Advanced knowledge of quality check management processes and techniques. Knowledge of equipment calibration (thermometers, scales), basic chemical titration, and O2/CO2 headspace analyzer usage. Ability to apply concepts such as percentages, ratios, proportions, and dilutions to practical situations. In-depth knowledge of food safety systems, including HACCP, SQF, and GMP. Experience with sanitation practices, ATP and APC swabbing, and environmental monitoring. Strong ability to solve complex quality issues and make decisions using available data. Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions and provide expert guidance. Ability to apply critical thinking to solve practical problems and make timely decisions.

Skills:

Strong focus on accuracy and quality control. Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and mentor junior-level Quality Assurance Technicians. Ability to lead training sessions for new hires and ensure team competency in quality practices. Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective problem-solving and conflict resolution. Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and overtime as needed.

Work Conditions:

Exposure to varying temperatures depending on warehouse conditions. Cold and wet environment with temperatures ranging from 35 to 38 degrees Fahrenheit. Must adhere to safety standards, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to wear slip resistance shoes Standard hazards associated with persons and equipment in motion in a warehouse. Physical requirements Ability to read, write, see, hear, and speak clearly to ensure accurate documentation and effective communication. Ability to bend, squat, stoop, reach, turn, push and pull, and move around in a fast-paced environment as needed to complete job tasks. Ability to go up and down incline stairs as required in the work environment. The employee must frequently stand and walk. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
