Sr. Metrology Quality Technician-Direct Hire-Beverly, MA Payrate $35-41 per hour Summary/Objective

  • Create, validate,troubleshoot CMM programs, and perform precision inspections,including FAIs (First Article Inspections), to ensure productconforms to all applicable requirements.
  • Supports Engineering NewProduct Development and Investigations in Metrology, through samplemeasurements and feedback, early on involvement in drawing andGD&T reviews, and early measurement capability evaluations.

Essential Functions

  • Applies advanced knowledge of GD&T andMetrology principles to program CMM’s/vision systems to ensureproducts meet specifications and drawings.
  • Resolve issues andanswer questions from Operators as well as from Inspectors andEngineers.
  • Train other inspectors and technicians.
  • Work withQuality Engineering to ensure that all set-ups and programs areaccurate.
  • Participate or lead special projects related to toolingfixtures and gages.
  • Identifies and drives cost reduction projectsutilizing Lean Manufacturing principle.
  • Works closely with theteam to determine efficiency improvements.
  • Create CMM programsusing part drawings or models and perform inspections as required.
  • Troubleshoot and/or amend existing CMM programs.
  • Performvalidation and verification of programs (CMM, vision systems, etc.)
  • Take critical measurements using gauges, fixtures and othermeasurement tools.
  • Provide inspection support to all departmentsin the organization, perform part inspection and FAIs.
  • Performother responsibilities as required. Competencies
  • Has advancedknowledge on all metrology programs and strong working knowledge ofGD&T (read and interpret).
  • Experience in a manufacturingenvironment and mechanical inspection of precision part.
  • Solidexperience with inspection equipment and tools
  • Proficiency CMMprogramming skills/training
  • Knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Must beable to multi-task without losing track of details.
  • Good verbaland written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills(including Microsoft Office).

Supervisory Responsibility None .Work Environment This job operates in a manufacturing environment.

This role routinely uses shop floor tools and machinery. PhysicalDemands The physical demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an employee to successfully perform theessential functions of this job.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient tooperate machinery for precision work
  • Visual acuity (corrected) toread directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely toensure that they meet specifications
  • Frequently required to sit,stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach withhands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to squat or kneel occasionally
  • Occasionally lift and/ormove up to 50 pounds Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is afull-time hourly position and operates Monday through Friday,7:00am to 3:30pm. Travel Occasional (Less than 10%) RequiredEducation and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalentrequired
  • Has advanced knowledge on all metrology programs andstrong working knowledge of GD&T (read and interpret).
  • 6years minimum experience in a manufacturing environment andmechanical Inspection of precision part
  • 6 years’ experience withinspection equipment and tools.
  • 4 years minimum experienceadvanced CMM programming.
  • 4 years minimum experience advancedVision System programming.
