Quality Inspector 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Biddeford, ME 04005 Masis Staffing is seeking a Quality Inspector with experience in a manufacturing or machining environment. This is a contract to hire role in Biddeford, ME. Monday through Thursday, 6am-4:30pm Pay rate starting at $30/HR Job Duties

  • Reads drawings, Manufacturing Information Sheets (MIS), purchase orders, engineering work order specifications, construction standards, etc., to obtain inspection criteria such as specified material, surface finish, tolerance, dimensions, item orientation, approved configurations, and specific notes.
  • Inspects all individual pieces, subassemblies, and assemblies for conformance to blueprints, sketches, MIS instructions, construction standards, etc. Determines disposition of all rejected items. Maintains accurate records of all inspections.
  • Measures centerlines, reference points, length, and height using precision instruments to verify machine set-up, correct angles, arcs and radii, and initial and assembly layout.
  • Verifies physical properties and size of materials such as plates, sheets, structural shapes, castings, and work produced by various manufacturing processes.
  • Inspects all welds for compliance to company weld acceptance criteria.
  • Reports deviations found during inspections to Quality Manager. If discrepancies are found, follows ISO-established procedures for remediation.
  • Assists the Weld Technician in the qualification of weld procedures, welder testing, and certification requirements as outlined in company weld acceptance program.
  • Travels to domestic and/or international vendors’ locations to perform inspections.
  • Works within compliance to all Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies.
  • Follows 6S principles to maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area.
  • Conforms to the requirements of the
ISO 9001

system.

  • Observes safety policies at all times.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned.
  • Receive direction from Quality Manager
  • Interact with other Inspectors and Production Team Members, other Team Leads, Engineering, Project Managers, Logistics & Purchasing, and Human Resources. Qualifications
  • Two-year technical college degree related to fabrication, machining, or equivalent formal training program.
  • Minimum 5 years of machine / fabrication shop inspection experience.
  • Ability to read and understand complex drawings and various types of inspection measuring instruments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Includes long periods of standing and movement through manufacturing and field environments. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Visual acuity is required to read and produce accurate materials. Use of computers, keyboards, telephones, and copiers. The regular work schedule will consist of four 10-hour workdays per week. Overtime opportunities occur regularly. #
