Job Description

QUALITY TECHNICIAN JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary Comply with all safety rules and procedures. Reporting to the Plant Manager (with a dotted line reporting to the Director of Quality), ensures product quality. Responsible for performing process audits, product inspections, functional testing, and identifying, developing and implementing process improvements supporting continuous improvement efforts as required. Essential Functions Inspects products for proper dimensions, and assembly according to customer specifications Inspect products from suppliers for proper dimensions, and assembly Perform process audits Perform problem solving analysis Determine and maintain supermarket inventory levels Participate in and/or conduct kaizen events Lead and facilitate Continuous Improvement (CI) projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other CI tools. Perform product layouts Inspects welds for defects Perform product testing as needed Create operating standards and procedures Participate in or lead events such as Gemba walsk, problem-solving sessions, and workshops Coordinate corrective actions on product defects Inspects material for visual defects Perform in depth product testing Develops product checks Perform containment activities as necessary Collect and interpret defect data from internal inspections and customer findings Collect, issue, track, and maintain gages People Management No immediate direct management responsibilities. Job Requirements, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Maintain a safe work environment. Minimum of 1-year related experience and/or technical training or 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment. High School Diploma or GED preferred; relevant college level coursework or other technical training preferred. Ability to read and comprehend blue prints, shop floor documentation, customer specifications/diagrams, instructions provided by supervisors/managers. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to use precision measuring instruments, such as: calipers, micrometers, protractors; ability to read a tape measure. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals in order to compute rate, ratios, and percent. Ability to create and follow operational procedures. Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot. Knowledge of 5S, kaizen, and other continuous improvement tools. Excellent communication and facilitation skills. Must have knowledge of and ability to use manufacturing software (i.e., Syteline), and common Office software (excel, word, powerpoint).
