Quality Control Technician Job Description Join an innovative chemical company as a Quality Control Technician on a contract-to-hire basis, primarily working in a lab setting with occasional inspections on the production line. This role involves performing essential lab tests, inspecting products, and supporting quality assurance and regulatory compliance functions in an industrial environment. Responsibilities Perform basic lab tests such as pH, specific gravity, viscosity, and titrations on raw materials and batch samples. Calculate batch adjustments as necessary to ensure product quality. Inspect packaging lines for conformity to specifications, including fill weight, cap torque, labels, and label placement. Document test and inspection results using both paper and electronic forms. Review and maintain production records and files to ensure accuracy and compliance. Inspect finished goods and components upon receipt for quality release. Investigate quality complaints and nonconformances to identify root causes and implement solutions. Maintain attention to detail and uphold professional integrity in all tasks. Communicate effectively with production staff and management to facilitate smooth operations. Essential Skills Proficiency in quality control, laboratory operations, and quality assurance practices. Ability to perform various lab tests and inspections with precision. Strong attention to detail and professional integrity. Effective communication skills with both production staff and management. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a chemistry-related discipline or 1-2 years of quality experience preferred. Associate degree in a science-related field with industry experience considered. Computer proficiency using Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO-9001 and regulatory experience with FDA, EPA, DOT, and OSHA is a plus. Ability to read, edit, and interpret documents such as Safety Data Sheets and Standard Operating Procedures. Work Environment This position involves working 70% of the time in a climate-controlled lab and 30% in an industrial plant environment, which is not climate controlled. The work schedule is from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
