ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties Understanding of different lens designs and corresponding lens powers/prescriptions Calibration of edgers for accurate lens to frame/bevel sizing Ensure that lenses are correct size, shape and fit into frame Ensure that any special beveling needs are met for each individual Rx Ensure lenses were properly decentered and blocked prior to edging Properly align frame by bending with fingers and/or tools Verify the axis on all multi-focal lenses Make sure all lenses are cosmetically acceptable Align bifocals and progressives to make sure they are straight across Ensure all safety bevels are adequate, and all lens treatments or add-ons are not overlooked Some hand work when necessary, including edge polishing, manual grooving, handstone use Briefly inspect frames for defects or broken parts All screws must be tight. No “V” in eye wire. Check for sealed eye wear instructions. Help tint and UV treat of edged lenses
QUALIFICATIONS
Education High School Diploma or GED Experience One year of Lab experience helpful Must be able to read a prescription Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arm, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to manipulate, handle or feel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Safety Requirements Basic understanding of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and the Hazard Communication Program. Closed toe shoe required with heel support While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and small/dust particles from machinery. The noise level in the work environment may require P.P.E. Safety glasses and long sleeve shirts may be required where needed.
