Quality Technician – 1989
Quality Technician Basic Function:
Assist in maintaining the effectiveness and compliance of the OCC QMS to relevant customer and regulatory (ISO) requirements. Determine compliance of products and purchased materials to all applicable OCC and Customer requirements
Significant Responsibilities:
Performs specific job responsibilities: Assist with evaluation and testing of purchased materials at receiving and accept into ERP system
Interface with Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing to help resolve nonconformance issues with purchased materials
Assist Quality in developing necessary receiving inspection sampling plans, procedures, and work instructions
Assist Quality in reviewing supplier certificates of compliance or test reports to determine validity
Assist Sales and Manufacturing in investigating customer complaints and analyzing customer returned material
Assist Quality in performing calibration of required gauges, quality inspection tools, and test equipment
Perform ISO internal auditor functions as required
Recognize defects and problems that arise during the production of OCC products
Evaluate data to validate compliance or identify deviations from existing standards
Complete detailed documentation and reports of all Inspection activities following OCC policy and customer-specified requirements
Complete Defective Material / Non-conforming Material notices and coordinate the disposition of affected material
Support the implementation of data collection projects
Assist Quality in Documentation and Data Control Process
Assist Quality in the Corrective and Preventive Action Process
Maintain the SCORE Board statistical and trend data Promotes OCC’s service excellence and quality. Provides excellent service to customers; builds strong relationships and team cohesiveness; focuses on quality and positive solutions; communicates respectfully; demonstrates compassion and understanding in response to customer requests/needs. Minimum Qualifications Required:
Education:
Technical degree or equivalent on the job technical training.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years in a Quality Assurance / Control Inspection process. Licensure, Certification, and/or
Registration:
None Other Minimum Qualifications:
Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge:
Computer experience and skill with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
Familiarity with Quality Assurance/Control practices
Knowledge of calibration/metrology practices
Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, and optical test equipment Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiarity with

Working Conditions:
Manufacturing area environment. This is a quality position that requires a sight sufficient for computer use and significant detail for inspection. This position also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for telephone contact with employees and management as well as relaying messages accurately. There are significant computer input/data entry duties that require sufficient manual dexterity for handling small fiber optic products, tools, and instruments.
