Full Job Description Summary:

A member of an area transportation team with primary duties to provide transportation-specific information, quality customer care and service to district staff, parents and the public. Assures that customers receive efficient and courteous services. Assists the area office with daily operational tasks, researches, analyzes, resolves and responds to customers’ questions, issues and/or concerns on a timely basis and within established local, state and federal laws and guidelines. Maintains records, prepares reports and answers phones. The Transportation Quality Support Technician will provide accurate, timely and comprehensive information to parents, CMS staff and other members of the general public. This position will assist with the data collection for the GPS software as well as any other technology within the department. The Transportation Quality Support Technician will also serve as a conduit between the CMS transportation department and the general public

Essential Duties:

Fluency and strong written and oral communication skills. Critical thinking skills. (Spanish strongly preferred). Ability to work in a team environment working in harmony with other area office staff to ensure daily operation coverage as well as communicating information to internal and external customers Strong interpersonal skills, especially in the areas of listening, conflict negotiation and diffusion, problem solving, crisis communication and customer service. Computer literacy, including data entry and database management required. (Access, Excel and Word). Ability to learn TIMS, Synovia, any other department technology. Ability to absorb and translate complex information quickly and to be able to share it accurately and in a timely fashion with members of the public in language that is easy to understand. Ability to interact and communicate effectively and appropriately with diverse populations. Strong orientation toward teamwork. Ability to track down information while maintaining positive internal relationships with other CMS administrators, colleagues and staff members. Ability to maintain a positive, calm, soothing and professional demeanor and attitude during difficult and challenging situations—in person, on the phone or via email and other forms of communication. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times, and to understand and operate within state and federal statutes and CMS policies and procedures regarding the release of public records and information. Performs related duties as required.

Education and Experience:

Minimum High school diploma or

G.E.D. 1
  • 2 years clerical/secretarial experience or training in Office Administration or a related experience. 2
  • 3 years customer service experience. Computer experience (Microsoft Office, Windows, Excel, etc) Desirable Associates or Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in business, logistics and/or transportation management Supplemental secretarial course work. 3
  • 5 years pupil transportation experience in a direct customer contact related position.

Licensing /

Certification Requirements:

Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid North Carolina driver’s license. # of Jobs 1.00
