Quality Assurance Technician Position Summary We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Quality Assurance (QA) Technician to serve as a cornerstone of our fabrication shop operations. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for delivering superior quality products that meet or exceed industry standards. The QA Technician will work closely with our experienced QA/QC team to ensure comprehensive quality system compliance, documentation integrity, and material traceability throughout all phases of production. Key Responsibilities Documentation and Traceability Management Review, verify, and maintain comprehensive material traceability records, including Material Test Reports (MTRs), heat numbers, and consumable tracking logs Ensure complete documentation chain from raw material receipt through final product delivery Perform detailed material receipt sample inspections and thorough MTR reviews to verify compliance with project specifications Maintain accurate records of all material movements and transformations throughout the fabrication process Quality Control Support Provide critical support to the QA/QC Manager with comprehensive document control tasks, including systematic filing of inspection reports, detailed weld maps, coating application logs, and organized file maintenance Ensure fabrication travelers are complete, accurate, and properly updated throughout the entire production cycle Collaborate with production teams to maintain real-time documentation updates Assist in the development and drafting of repair procedures when non-conformances are identified Process Monitoring and Reporting Conduct systematic observation of fabrication processes and proactively report any issues that may impact product quality to QA leadership Monitor compliance with established work procedures and quality standards Participate in root cause analysis activities when quality issues arise Support continuous improvement initiatives through data collection and analysis Project Documentation and Submittal Preparation Assist in preparing comprehensive documentation packages for project submittals, including detailed inspection checklists, complete coating records, and certified NDT reports Ensure all required certifications and test results are properly compiled and organized Support customer communication regarding quality documentation requirements Maintain project-specific quality files and ensure accessibility for audits and reviews Inspection and Testing Support Assist with final visual inspections under the direct supervision and guidance of certified inspectors Support various non-destructive testing (NDT) activities including preparation and documentation Help coordinate third-party inspection activities and ensure proper documentation of results Participate in pre-shipment quality verification processes Professional Development and Team Participation Actively participate in QA meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as assigned Stay current with industry standards, codes, and best practices Contribute to team knowledge sharing and mentoring of new personnel Support implementation of new quality procedures and technologies Required Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required 0-1 years of experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment Technical Knowledge and Skills Understanding of material properties and fabrication processes Familiarity with measurement tools and inspection equipment Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions Work Environment Adaptability Comfortable and safe working in an active fabrication shop environment with exposure to welding operations, painting processes, and metalizing activities Ability to work in various environmental conditions including temperature variations and noise levels typical of industrial facilities Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Personal Attributes and Skills Exceptionally detail-oriented and organized with strong analytical thinking abilities Demonstrated ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records consistently Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify potential quality issues Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively Professional demeanor with strong work ethic and reliability Technology and Communication Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Office Suite applications Ability to learn and adapt to various document management systems and quality tracking software Strong written and verbal communication skills Willingness to learn from experienced QA/QC staff and accept constructive feedback Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining individual accountability Preferred Qualifications Additional Experience and Education QA, quality control, or production support experience strongly preferred Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication terminology including WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), PQR (Procedure Qualification Records), VT (Visual Testing), MT (Magnetic Particle Testing), UT (Ultrasonic Testing), and RT (Radiographic Testing) Hands-on experience with document control systems or inspection tracking software Previous exposure to quality management systems such as

The role involves both office-based documentation work and shop floor activities. Standard safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements apply. Salary Range $21 – $25/hour non-exempt full-time position. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position.
