Located in Summerville, SC, KION North America Corporation (KNA) is the responsible entity for serving the markets of USA, Canada and Mexico. The Metrology Lab Specialist is responsible for the development and documentation of laboratory dimensional measurement and gauge calibration processes at KION North America (KNA) including the creation of measurement strategies and templates. This role will coordinate the daily metrology laboratory workflow and is responsible for ensuring that measurement and calibration results are provided on time, and will also provide limited functional supervision to multiple Metrology Lab Technicians.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Subject matter expert (SME) for dimensional measurement methodology and test equipment Apply advanced understanding of GD&T to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to identify measurement needs and requirements Develop measurement processes and programs for the FARO portable measurement arm, Creaform HandyPROBE and MetraSCAN 3D measurement equipment. Build measurement report templates using PolyWorks software Ensure that metrology laboratory work instructions are adequate and accurate. Write, review, and/or approve test reports and calibration certificates documenting measurement and calibration results including pass/fail dispositions in accordance with established policies, procedures, and specifications Train Metrology Lab Technicians and other KNA personnel to perform dimensional measurements using gauges and measurement equipment following established measurement methods Provide dimensional measurement and GD&T technical support to cross-functional corrective action and continual improvement teams Coordinate metrology laboratory workflow to meet customer expectations in accordance with standard laboratory practices Coordinate the daily functional activities for the Metrology Lab Technicians Conduct internal audits and product audits as necessary Follow KNA safety policies and regulations

5 years’ metrology laboratory experience 2 years’ CMM (or equivalent) programming experience 2 years’ gauge calibration experience Advanced understanding of GD&T and its functional application Previous experience with Creaform HandyPROBE, MetraSCAN 3D, and FARO portable arm preferred Previous experience with PolyWorks and SAP software systems preferred. Supervision experience preferred Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes Ability to optimally use a computer and Microsoft Office applications
Education:
High School diploma A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred and may be used in lieu of experience
