Job Title:
Laboratory Technician (TECH1)
Location:
Columbia, SC Reports to: Director of Quality and Engineering and assigned
Section-Lead Responsibilities:
Review, understand and comply with Laboratory Quality Control Manual and associated Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Read and comprehend test procedures, protocols, and methods relating to materials used in the building construction industry Comprehend and learn connections between material chemistry and performance of construction materials Prepare and assemble test specimens, large-scale and small-scale Witness, document and assist clients with test specimen construction Conduct tests and record data Transfer data and photographic or video documentation to the company server Assist Technical Writers with data review to ensure accurate reporting Participate in the transition of raw data to the final laboratory report Cross-training in a variety of bench tests and mock-up roof tests Assist in the development, verification, revision, and training of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Maintain a clean and safe working environment Attend staff meetings Assist with the development and implementation of new test apparatus Other duties, as assigned by supervisor(s) Daily time entry into time-tracking software
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science required: Material Science, Chemistry or Mechanical disciplines, with research, analysis and reporting experience Degree in Engineering preferred: civil, chemical, mechanical or materials disciplines only Not applicable: computer science, biology Must be a US Citizen or Green card holder, no sponsorship available Experience in physical properties test procedures required Good fabrication and/or carpentry skills Desire, intent, and ability to develop a career in building sciences at NEMO Accountable, self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently Dynamic, quick learner with good judgment and decision-making skills Technically minded / mechanically inclined Works with hands; willingness to ‘get dirty’ Ability to lift 100 lbs Proficient in using Microsoft Office 365 Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Comfortable working with diverse personnel and a myriad of personality types Strong oral and written communication skills Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship Pay dependent on experience
Hours:
Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week. Intermittent overtime can be expected. Compensation /
