Materials Testing Technician:
Collier Engineering is a family-owned, multi-disciplinary consulting firm providing clients comprehensive design, engineering, and construction quality assurance solution. We have a strong need for a Materials Testing Technician to execute the activities of construction/geotechnical materials testing, includes materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. The technician will perform quality control testing for private, industrial, transportation, and municipal clients; will continually promote timely and safe behavior and conduct protocols that are consistent with company policy and project requirements. Pay DOE.
Materials Testing Technician Responsibilities and Duties:
Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials in compliance with project specifications. Review of civil, architectural, and structural plans and specifications in preparation of field observations on construction sites. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in the form of written and digital reports. [Report documentation of field activities, observations, and testing results on projects and the conformance with (or deviation from) project plans.] Daily communication with team and managers. Assist laboratory manager to perform laboratory tests on construction and geologic materials, mostly relating to soils, concrete, masonry, paving materials, asphalt, and rock.
Materials Testing Required Experience:
Minimum 1+ year experience in construction materials testing. Degree or certification in construction business and related field (concrete industry, project/construction management, TDOT technician training modules, etc.) is a plus but not required. Possess a safety-conscious attitude toward work and promote company and OSHA safety guidelines. ACI Concrete Level I certification or ability to pass the written exam and hands-on/performance test within 3 months of hire date required Strong communication skills to converse technically regarding projects and work with team members. Sufficient technical writing skills for reports. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT) and Adobe Acrobat. Valid TN driver license with acceptable driving record and history. Ability to travel periodically as required by projects, society functions, continuing education, etc. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
