Job Objective:

The Materials Engineer is an established performer that is responsible for researching, developing, and selecting materials used in manufacturing processes to ensure optimal performance, durability, and safety of products. This role involves a deep understanding of material properties, testing methodologies, and their applications.
Duties and Responsibilities of the

Position:

Using brief, bulleted, narrative statements, describe the main tasks and responsibilities that an employee in this position would be expected to manage.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guide material selection, develop new materials, and address material-related challenges.
  • Analyze and evaluate the mechanical, thermal, electrical, and chemical properties of materials for specific applications.
  • Conduct material testing and characterization to ensurepliance with performance requirements.
  • Research new materials and manufacturing techniques to improve product performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations of material-related failures or defects.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and rmend design or process improvements.
  • Provide technical expertise on material selection during the product design and development phase.
  • Collaborate with Design teams to ensure materials align with product requirements.
  • Ensure materialsply with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Work on projects and assignments as part of a large work team.
  • Perform accurate analyses, conduct research, and draw meaningful conclusions about potential job/work-area impacts.
  • Effectively apply functional, process, and procedural or technical knowledge to address business challenges.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Required Experience and Education:

Describe the education, years of experience, and any certifications necessary toplete the duties and responsibilities of this position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 2-4 years’ relevant experience OR equivalentbination of education and experience.
  • Six-Sigma and/or Lean certifications are desirable.

Describe the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of technical, process, and business principles as well as industry practices and standards.
  • Excellentmunication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
