Basic Job Functions:
The role of a EAF 1st helper is to safely oversee all aspects of producing quality steel from our furnace. Successful candidates should have the ability to operate furnace controls at both the pulpit and tapping station, understand and maintain furnace refractories, and understand slag treatment processes. They will also input and maintain furnace reports, calculate alloy additions, track and measure assigned EAF performance indicators while sustaining efficient operations and lowering costs. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
3 years Melt Shop experience or equivalent leadership experience
Previous experience in EAF operations
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical and/or maintenance abilities
