Position Description:

This position is responsible for safe operation and maintenance of the boiler rooms and steam system. This position requires the possession and maintenance of a Second Class Fireman (or higher) license in the state of Massachusetts.

Key Accountabilities include:

Start up and shut down mill Boilers according to the schedule provided by Manufacturing Operations. Effectively and efficiently operate the boilers to provide steam for the paper mill, while observing fuel conservation and operate within all required regulatory limits, including Title V Air Permit. Effectively monitor energy use within the mill and properly manage flow to ensure mill processes operate smoothly without exceeding the capability of the boilers. This includes monitoring of an Effluent Heat Exchanger. Complete daily water and boiler tests, blow downs, etc. as assigned by the Chief Engineer, and complete all required reporting. Support Boiler Tuning, Stack Testing and other activities such as tear down, annual inspections, re-assembly, etc. during periods of mill shut down. Monitor the incoming 25 psi gas line to the Boiler Room and serve as the watchdog over the gas line to prevent a Natural Gas related emergency.

Position Requirements:

Exhibit proficiency in all required skills covered under the MA State License and Boiler Operator Training. Complete Continuing Education Units and other requirements to maintain state license to operate boiler. Continuous attendance or boiler in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws governing Boiler operation. Hands-on ability to repair and maintain boiler components, equipment, and facilities, which includes fundamental and complex tasks that are physical and mental in nature. Ability to work with minimal supervision, maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure. Understand safe work practices, PPE, OSHA requirements, and environmental regulations. Ability to lift, carry, and push tools and operations equipment. In addition, tasks may require frequent standing, sitting and walking. Use of full face/cartridge respirator upon physician approval. Basic computer knowledge including proficient email communication, and operation of Microsoft Office suite.

Full-time Pay:

$28.39 per hour Base (+$1.00/hr for 2nd shift, +$2.00/hr for 3rd Shift) Higher licensure will result in higher base rate.

Compensation Package:

Hourly pay Overtime pay (After 40 hours per week) Premium pay

Call-in Pay Schedule:

12-hour rotating shifts: Four 12-hour nights, Four days off, Three 12-hour days, Three 12-hour nights, Four days off, Four 12-hour days, Six days off. Weekends required

Education:
